Microsoft Office 365 Enterprise E5 is now available and it’s great. With a bunch of new features as well as security and functional improvements, it’s easily the best Office 365 we’ve ever seen. Below is a list of the new capabilities you get with E5.
Skype for Business Online
With Office 365’s integration with Skype, calling, conferencing, video, and sharing has all been brought to one platform. With it, you can host meetings via the Internet for up to 10,000 people. Attendees can join the meeting by using a browser on nearly any device. Meetings also include real-time polling and sentiment tracking, plus Yammer, a private social network for interoffice communication.
Attendees can also join Skype for Business from any telephone by dialing a local access number. You can also dial out from a meeting to add others. There is also a single-touch join option on PC, smartphones, and browsers, which allows people to join an online meeting even when they have no Internet access.
Customer lockbox gives tenants precise control over access to their data when Microsoft investigates a problem. It’s essentially there to reassure customers that the company values and respects the privacy of its users.
Delve Organization Analytics
Delve, if you haven’t used it before, has a layout comparable to Google+ or Pinterest. It allows you to track what employees are working on and what they’ve already completed. Everyone has their own profile, so it’s easy to focus on and track the tasks and daily operations of a given person. For a visual of Delve, check out this video.
The Analytics section of Delve highlights certain data points of each person’s workflow. Such data points include, how much time they are spending in meetings, whether they are focused on internal or external contacts, and the information flow between departments
There’s a lot of information that can be extracted with Delve, ultimately giving you a clear and detailed view of how your business operates on an internal level.
Advanced Threat Protection with E5
Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) extends the protection already provided by Exchange Online Protection. With it, you get a new email filtering service designed to protect against advanced threats. One feature of ATP is Safe Attachments, which can better detect malware and virus-laced emails.
The Safe Links feature protects users from malicious hyperlinks sent in emails. Even if you click on the bad link, ATP will block it, preventing it from harming your computer.
With ATP, you also get reporting and tracking capabilities, allowing you to learn who at the company is being targeted and what kind of attacks they’re facing. You can then investigate the messages that have been blocked as well as track the malicious links that have been clicked.
It’s nice to see that Office 365 Enterprise E5 builds on the successes of its predecessors in a significant way. If you’re looking to upgrade your Office 365 or are thinking about trying it for the first time, E5 is a top-tier option that is great for any business.
